Services

The choir sings regular Sunday services:

The Sunday morning service, at 10.00 until 11.00 is usually Holy Communion. Currently, during the interregnum, the service on the third Sunday is non-communion service but the choir plays a major role. On the fourth Sunday the service is likely to be at either St.John's or one of the other churches in the team.

At 6.00, currently on an occasional basis during the interregnum, the choir sings Choral Evensong. This service consists of a setting of the evening canticles (magnificat and nunc dimittis), a psalm, and another anthem, as well as hymns. The choir has a very active roll in the service and it is an opportunity to sing some amazing works. Although the congregation is still largely involved in the service, it is also a good opportunity to listen to some beautiful music, making it an enjoyable evening service.

Alongside the regular Sunday services, the choir sings at weddings, usually on Saturdays. The roll of the choir is to lead the hymns and sing an anthem. This is a short, easy and enjoyable part of the job, and quite often well paid!
